You can copy .pdf files directly to a Kindle MX via the usb connection to your computer.Other files require conversion which you can do in several ways:

Email to your kindle address at Amazon where it will be converted to a .azw format for the kindle.- Send to "NAME"@kindle.com address for wireless delivery via Whispernet (Sprint 3G). There is a 15¢ per MB or 10¢ per document.
 - or use "NAME"@free.kindle.com" to create a document you can download and transfer to the kindle via USB.

	  Amazon can convert:
	  , Microsoft Word (.DOC)
, Structured HTML (.HTML, .HTM)
, Plain Text (.TXT)
, Adobe Acrobat (.PDF)
, JPEG (.JPEG, .JPG)
, GIF (.GIF)
, PNG (.PNG)
, BMP (.BMP)
Use Mobipocket on a Windows PC to create a .prc document which can also be read by the kindle. Convert the document to structured html like those found at Project Gutenberg and rename to file extension to ".txt".Mobipocket can convert:
	, Structured HTML (.HTML, .HTM)
, Plain text (.TXT)
, Adobe Acrobat (.PDF)
, Microsoft Word (.DOC, .RTF)
, Microsoft Excel (.XLS)
, Microsoft PowerPoint (.PPT)
, Microsoft Visio (.VS*)
, Microsoft Compiled HTML Help (.CHM)
, Open eBook (.EPUB)

Many e-books purchased from vendors other than Amazon.com may be encrypted with DRM (Digital Rights Management) which does not allow them to be read on other devices. These e-books cannot be read by the Kindle, nor converted to a format readable by the Kindle.

Most AZW files contain DRM protection that only allows them to be viewed on the Amazon Kindle; however, it may be possible to view unprotected Kindle eBooks on a PC with Mobipocket Reader by changing the file extension from ".azw" to ".prc."
