Jonathan Sikes established a homestead on a quarter section (1/4 sq. mile) in the Tremont District, of Solano Co. just south of Davis, Yolo Co. in 1856. In 1869 he was granted ownership of this land under the Homestead Act of 1862. He received this Homestead Certificate, signed by President Grant on June 1, 1869.
