Utilities: Dropbox - Syncs dropbox folder on Mac, PC, iPpad, iPhone, ANdroid phone Good Reader - PDF reader Instapaper - Hit Instapaper's "Read Later" button on your PC web browser (Firefox and Safari work best) to add a page to your reading list. Then on your iPad you can launch the Instapaper app to read everything you've saved with just the words and pictures, stripped of all the junk. Desktop - Split Screen Productivity: Evernote - Combine text notes with any number of image or audio attachments. Lifestyle - Reference: Shazam - Shazam uses a mobile phone's built-in microphone to gather a brief sample of music being played, looks it up in a database and returns the artist, song title, and album are relayed back to the user. Epicurious - Packed with more than 25,000 recipes and some stunning photography. Just type in whatever you have in your fridge and the app will give you some ideas for dinner and create a shopping list for any ingredients you don't have. Flight Track - Track flights with beautiful, zoomable maps or get real-time departure info, delays and gate numbers at a glance. It has FlightBoard which gives a display like you see at airport with flight status and gates. Flight Status Pro seems to be similar. Google Earth Art - Photo: Brushes - A painting app Photoshop Express - Adobe's Photoshop Express lets you crop, straighten, rotate and flip images. There are also a variety of filters and effects. Education: The elements - A periodic table of the elements with moving 3D renditions. It takes 1.75GB of space. 16GB iPad owners may find themselves scrounging for space. Star Walk - Finds your location and a screen appears showing all the major planets, stars and constellations visible from your location. the Time Machine feature which show the night sky over a multiple year period. Sky Live gives you a view of the moon's phases and elevation, as well as rising data for the Sun, Mercury, Saturn, Jupiter and Venus. Picture of the Day gives you access to a nice library of space imagery. iBooks - Books from Apples App Store. Kindle - eBooks. If you have a kindle account, you have to down the app and find out. Just log in and you can download all of your archive books. Social Networking Friendly (facebook) - Facebook interface Flipboard - A way to flip through the news, photos and updates your friends are sharing on Facebook, Twitter, Google Reader, Flickr and Instagram. WordPress - easy to manage your WordPress blog or site from your iOS device. With WordPress for iOS, you can moderate comments, create or edit posts and pages, and add images or videos with ease. All you need is a WordPress.com blog or a self-hosted WordPress.org site running 2.9.2 or higher. Skype - Games - Entertainment Netflix - Movies. Angry Birds - Game - The survival of the Angry Birds is at stake. Dish out revenge on the green pigs who stole the Birds' eggs. Use the unique destructive powers of the Angry Birds to lay waste to the pigs' fortified castles. Remote - Control iTunes and Apple TV using your iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad over your Wi-Fi network. Productivity apps (word processing, spread sheet, presentation): QuickOffice Connect Mobile and Documents To Go allow you to read and edit Microsoft office documents (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Apples own iWork suite (Pages, Numbers and Keynote) also have iPad versions. They will also read MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint docs¹. Pages is the best word processor on the iPad. Office HD is another app similar to Documents To Go and Quickoffice. iPhone GPS navigation buying advice \| Consumer reports When comparing iPhone applications to PNDs (portable navigation device) in our testing, we find that the iPhone does not match the accuracy found in even basic dedicated devices. This has been consistent over the several apps we have tested. The simple advice is to choose an app from a name-brand company such as Magellan, Navigon, and TomTom.
