This is an unofficial web site where I put my notes so I can access them from the cloud. Check with Francy for the official scoop.
When: May 29 - June 4, 2011
Where: Randolph College - 2500 Rivermont Ave. Lynchburg, VA (434) 947-8000
Lynchburg Virginia
Leader: Francy Rubin
Assistants: Diana Lynn, Ian Schill, Don McBride
Options for lodging before or after :
- Residence B+B - this is an easy walk about 2 blocks from the college.
www.theresidencebb.com A pizza place and a nice Italian restaurant walking
distance
- Acorn Hill Lodge - owned by a fun man that I met in a parking lot when he
offered to sharpen the loppers I use on the trail. www.acornhilllodge.com . A
couple of folks stayed w/ him last year after the hike and you could get
massages there. He is adding on and I am not sure if the spa is still there.
This is located about 5 min drive from the college, but not walking distance and
there are no restaurants within walking distance.
- Hilton Garden hotel - near the airport and they offer shuttle service. The
web site says that they will do shuttles to local businesses, so they might even
bring you to the college. There is an indoor pool.
- Springhill suites - near the airport. They offer continental breakfast and a
fitness room.
There is the usual array of Hamptons, Holiday Inn, etc, but none are
particularly close to the college and would also require cab rides.
